Interdimensional Portals

Faerie doors, Inner Earth doors, Unicorn spirals -- and others -- are invitations for the Nature Beings and Magical Beings to join you in your realm. (See below for Placing an Interdimensional Portal.)

These photos are representative of the doors I make, each one handmade and unique. When I can, I use upcycled materials and things I find outside in the yard. I use a high quality waterproof wood glue to join all pieces, then give the finished doors a polyurethane clearcoat to help everything stick. They will fare better inside or in a potted plant on the patio, but are also meant to be placed 'in the wild' near trees and rock walls where the Fae are probably already living. They might become weather-worn or lose some of their pieces, but once the portal's been opened and/or recognized, their job is done anyway.

Placing an interdimensional portal

Faerie doors, Inner Earth doors, etc. are actually dimensional portals. Or, more accurately, invitations to the Beings of another realm to open a portal into your realm.

If you place a door in your yard, a potted plant, in your home, in a park nearby… please take a few moments to connect with the Nature Beings, send respect and love, and ask them to establish a connection with you. Feel into where they would like you to place the door – the physical representation of a portal. Place it with reverence and care. Then thank them for the opportunity to connect with them.

Periodically, you can visit the spot if you wish, and connect with the Nature Beings again. They don’t need to “do” anything for you; they are friends. Perhaps new friends that you’ve just connected with for the first time, or old friends whose presence you’ve felt for a while.

These little doors and spirals are not that important afterwards. They were merely the gift you offered to the Nature Beings while you asked for them to open a portal. The doors may fall apart with time and weather; they may be taken by a curious person or critter. It doesn’t matter. The invitation to open a portal has been extended, and its job is done. Of course, if it stays around for a while, it can be a visible reminder.

***Please do not nail these doors to trees. Trees are living beings. They are guardians and transducers of energy between the heart of Gaia and the cosmic realms. Nails hurt. Trees deserve reverence and respect.

If you feel the need to anchor the door in some way, you can glue a stick (twig, popsicle stick, half a chopstick) on the back. Glue it after you’ve located the spot where the door will be set, so you know where to locate the anchoring stick.
